“American Riversongs” – Pierre La Plante
I was able to conduct the Wilson Symphonic Band in concert on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 on this wonderful medley of American folksongs. I felt that the students played very maturely, and carried themselves with poise and professionalism! I was extremely proud to be their conductor and their student teacher!
I feel that this piece serves a great example of my conducting, particularly different styles, tempi, and feels of music! Enjoy!
“Amazing Grace” – Frank Ticheli
This is actual rehearsal footage of myself conducting the Wilson HS Symphonic Band on Frank Ticheli’s gorgeous setting of “Amazing Grace”. After group warm ups, the band does a warm up piece every single rehearsal. I felt that the students did a fine job in performing this work!
This footage comes from my conducting class final exam at Penn State. I conducted my peers in performance of the third movement (March) of Gustav Holst’s “First Suite in Eb”. This piece is a staple of wind band literature, and is truly one of my favorite works for band!
