Currently (2021 – Present), I serve as Director of Bands and a Music Teacher at North Schuylkill Junior – Senior High School. In this capacity, I direct the Marching Band, Pep Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Band, and teach Music Theory, Guitar Class, and Instrumental Lessons in grades 7-12.

Previously (2020 – 2021), I served as an Elementary Music Teacher in the North Schuylkill School District. In this capacity, I taught classroom music in grades K-6, instrumental band lessons in grades 4-6, and served as Director of the Elementary Band program.

NSSD was selected as a Best Communities for Music Education Award winner by the NAMM Foundation in 2021, 2022, and 2023.

We were also a 2021, 2022, and 2023 recipient of the Peter R. Marsh Foundation Middle School Music Grant for our outreach concerts in area nursing facilities.

Assistant Band Director – Shenandoah Valley District – Shenandoah Valley Junior – Senior High School – Shenandoah, PA – (July 2017 – July 2021)

  • 2021 and 2022 Recipient, NAMM Foundation Best Communities for Music Education Award
  • Summer band camp staff member. Able to help communicate efficiently between staff and students.
  • Run homogenous and heterogenous instrument group sectionals.
  • Assist director of bands in rehearsing ensembles.
  • Teach all students how to march (Big Ten style and drum corps style).
  • Coordinate the live-streaming of all concert events.
  • Create online directory of marching band music for students to access and practice.
  • Organize music library, update master list of titles in library.
  • Assist in repair and maintenance of instruments, as well as make digital inventory of instrumental supplies.

Student Teaching Experience – 

I was extremely fortunate to have a student teaching experience in two wonderful school districts. Wilson School District (West Lawn, PA) and Wyomissing Area School District (Wyomissing, PA).

Wilson School District

Wilson School District (Wilson High School) – High School Band Emphasis – https://www.wilsonsd.org/ 

Dates – (January – March 2019)

Duties included

  • Conducted 130 piece High School Symphonic Band, 17 piece Jazz Band, 100 piece Symphony Orchestra, and 60 piece Concert Choir.
    • Conducted Symphonic Band in concert on Pierre La Plante’s American Riversongs.
    • Coached jazz trumpet sectionals weekly on their festival music.
  • Instructed a Jazz History/Improvisation course, two sections of Piano Class, co-taught the analysis portion of the AP Music Theory course.
    • Developed unit lesson plans on famous figures in jazz.
    • Assigned presentations to students on historical figures in jazz.
  • Differentiated instruction to facilitate inclusion of special needs/multicultural students at all levels.
  • Created original lesson plans for each class aligned with state and national arts and education standards.
  • Continually assessed students both formally and informally in all classes.
Wyomissing Area School District

Dates – (March – April 2019)

Duties included – 

  • Conducted 4th Grade Band, 5th and 6th Grade Band, 5th and 6th Chorus, and Select Chorus.
    • Led rehearsals with each ensemble.
  • Instructed two 5th and 6th Grade General Music classes
    • Developed unit lesson plans for Jazz Appreciation Month in April.
  • Elementary Band Lessons
    • Instructed beginning students in weekly instrumental lessons.
  • Differentiated instruction to facilitate inclusion of special needs/multicultural students at all levels.
  • Created original lesson plans for each class aligned with state and national arts and education standards.
  • Continually assessed students both formally and informally in all classes.
